2. Stanislav Petrov, a Soviet military officer who is widely credited with helping prevent a nuclear war with the U.S., has died aged 77.

Mr. Petrov, whose extraordinary story was told in a documentary titled The Man Who Saved the World, received several international awards, was honoured at the United Nations and met Hollywood superstars such as Robert De Niro and Matt Damon.

3. Make in India is an initiative launched by the Government of India to encourage national, as well as multi-national companies to manufacture their products in India. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 September 2014

India emerged, after initiation of the programme in 2015, as the top destination globally for foreign direct investment (FDI), surpassing the United States of America as well as the People's Republic of China. In 2015, India received US$63 billion in FDI.

4. India has the third largest reserves of coal in the world. Therefore, the expectation is that there is also a high potential for coal bed methane (CBM), said Prashant Modi, CEO of Great Eastern Energy Corporation.


5. Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP) gives an option to a company looking for exploring hydrocarbons to select the exploration blocks on its own, without waiting for the formal bid round from the Government. 

Under Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP), a bidder intending to explore hydrocarbons like oil and gas, coal bed methane, gas hydrate etc., may apply to the Government seeking exploration of any new block (not already covered by exploration).  The Government will examine the Expression of Interest and justification. If it is suitable for award, Govt. will call for competitive bids after obtaining necessary environmental and other clearances. 

OALP was introduced via a Cabinet decision of the Government dated 10.03.2016, as part of the new fiscal regime in exploration sector called HELP or Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing Policy.

6. Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing Policy (HELP) is a policy adopted by Government of India on 10.03.2016 indicating the new contractual and fiscal model for award of hydrocarbon acreages towards exploration and production (E&P). HELP is applicable for all future contracts to be awarded.

HELP replaces the existing policy regime for exploration and production of oil and gas, known as New Exploration Licensing Policy (NELP), which has been in existence for 18 years.

The Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground, also known as Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex, is a cricket and association football stadium in Greater Noida, India, and it is the home ground of the Afghan national cricket team.
