4. Right to Information (RTI) is an Act of the Parliament of India to provide for setting out the practical regime of right to information for citizens and replaces the erstwhile Freedom of information Act, 2002

Under the provisions of the Act, any citizen of India may request information from a "public authority" (a body of Government or "instrumentality of State") which is required to reply expeditiously or within thirty days. 

This law was passed by Parliament on 15 June 2005 and came fully into force on 12 October 2005. The first application was given to a Pune police station

Information disclosure in India was restricted by the Official Secrets Act 1923 and various other special laws, which the new RTI Act relaxes. It codifies a fundamental right of citizens.

5. Amaravati is the de facto capital city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

The planned city is located on the southern banks of the Krishna river in Guntur district, within the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region. The word "Amaravati" derives its name from the historical Amaravathi Temple town, the ancient capital of the Telugu Rulers of the Satavahana dynasty.

The foundation stone was laid on 22 October 2015, at Uddandarayunipalem area by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The metropolitan area of Guntur and Vijayawada are the major conurbations of Amaravati.


6. Subsidiarity is a principle of social organization that originated in the Roman Catholic Church. In its most basic formulation, it holds that social and political issues should be dealt with at the most immediate (or local) level that is consistent with their resolution

The Oxford English Dictionary defines subsidiarity as, "the principle that a central authority should have a subsidiary function, performing only those tasks which cannot be performed at a more local level." The concept is applicable in the fields of government, political science, neuropsychology, cybernetics, management and in military command (mission command).

7. Pyongyang: A Journey in North Korea is a black-and-white graphic novel by the Canadian Québécois author Guy Delisle, published in 2004.

This novel focuses mostly on the landmarks in North Korea's capital. To capture the colorless world that author stayed in for two months, Delisle's sketches are in pencil. He draws only what he is allowed to see but the book captures in picture the story of a foreigner with little freedom to travel.

10. When was the zero first used in India?

The bakhshali manuscript is an ancient indian mathematical manuscript written on more than 70 leaves of birch bark. Researcher at the oxford university identified the script as the first recorded use of the mathematical symbol for zero, 500 years earlier than previously thought.

The earliest recorded example of the  use of zero was previously believed to be a ninth-century inscription on a wall in a temple.

  1. April 5, 1961: Prime Minister Jwaharlal Nehru lays foundation stone.

  8. 2006: Narendra Modi, as Chief Minister of Gujarat, sits on a 51-hour fast in 2006 as the UPA government refuses to give permission to raise the height of the dam, citing incomplete rehabilitation work.
  9. 2014: In just 17 days after becoming Prime Minister, Modi government gives the final permission to raise the height of the dam to 138 meters and install the gates.
