1. Pyongyang , literally: "Flat Land" or "Peaceful Land") is the capital and largest city of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (commonly known as North Korea).

Pyongyang is located on the Taedong River about 109 kilometres (68 mi) upstream from its mouth on the Yellow Sea .

2. Cloud seeding is a form of weather modification, a way of changing the amount or type of precipitation that falls from clouds, by dispersing substances into the air that serve as cloud condensation or ice nuclei, which alter the micro physical processes within the cloud. 

The usual intent is to increase precipitation (rain or snow), but hail and fog suppression are also widely practiced in airports.

3. Excellence award for SHIMUL

Shivamogga Milk Union Ltd.  (SHIMUL), an unit of Karnataka Milk Federation, has been selected for the 'NDDB-Dairy Excellence Award 2016' instituted by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).

The award will be presented at NDDB, Anand in Gujarat on September 26. Union Minister for agriculture Radha Mohan Singh will present the award to Jagadeeshappa Banakar, SHIMUL chairman, and A. Chandrashekhar, MD.

4. September 15 is celebrated every year in India as Engineer's Day to commemorate the birthday of the legendary engineer Sir M. Visvesvaraya (1861-1962).
  • Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, KCIE (popularly known as Sir MV) was an Indian engineer, scholar, statesman and the Diwan of Mysore from 1912 to 1918. 
  • He is a recipient of the Indian Republic's highest honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 1955. 
  • He was knighted as a Knight Commander of the British Indian Empire (KCIE) by King George V for his contributions to the public good. 
  • He was the chief engineer responsible for the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara dam in Mandya district as well as the chief designer of the flood protection system for the city of Hyderabad.

5. A Look at the next generation of high speed travel in India - India's first bullet train project between Ahmadabad and Mumbai.

Aug 15, 2022 - The service on the Ahemadabad Mumabai High speed Rail Network is likely to begin during India's 75th year of Independence.

A 21 Km long tunnel will be dug between Boisar and BKC in Mumbai, of which 7 KM will be under water.

35 Bullet trains will be run when railways start operation with about 70 trips per day. The number of trips will be increased to 105 trains in 2050.

7.  The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is the regulator for the securities market in India. It was established in the year 1988 and given statutory powers on 30 January 1992 through the SEBI Act, 1992.

8. Japanese auto giant Suzuki Motor Corp. on Thursday announced fresh investments of about $0.6 billion or almost Rs 3900 crore in Gujarat to add a third car production plant at the Hansalpur facility. This will take the Japanese firm's total investment in the facility to about Rs 13, 400 crore.

The Hansalpur-based plant is Suzuki Motor Corp.'s first wholly owned car plant in India.

9. Taizo Son, a mobile games entrepreneur and brother of one of the world's most powerful technology investors, Masayoshi Son, is setting up an agri-food tech accelerator in India.

The 44 year old billionaire, who built his fortune as the founder of game maker GungHo, has set up "Gastrotope,", an accelerator , through his incubator Mistletoe, in collaboration with Indian accelerator GSF and Infobridge.

12. A new plastic £10 note featuring Jane Austen, one of  Britain's most renowned authors, has gone into circulation.

Apart from Queen, whose portrait is on all U. K. currency , Austen is only the third woman to feature on a modern-day British banknote

The new currency is first British banknote with a tactile feature to help the visually challenged.

13. Vijay Amritraj's life story will be told through a biopic

The Former Tennis champion says the film will delve into how parent's love can make a child's dream come true.  Boutique film studio has acquired the rights to make the biopic. 

Amritraj, who has acted in Star Trek IV and Octopussy, was honoured with a Padma Shri in 1983.
