1. China had conducted its first -ever nuclear test on October 16, 1964 - two years after the border war fought between India and China. Test. Generally Nuclear test / explosion produce "Mushroom clouds".

A mushroom cloud is an iconic mushroom-shaped cloud of smoke/debris that forms in the sky following an extremely large explosion. Although it’s usually associated with a nuclear explosion, a mushroom cloud can be formed following any event that results in a rapid release of heat, like a volcano, a forest fire, an impact event (a large-scale collision between astronomical objects) or a particularly powerful explosion (like those caused by vacuum bombs).

Earlier it was known as the Department of Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy (ISM&H) which was created in March 1995 and renamed as Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) in November 2003.

Neem coated urea puts the fertilizer in a slow - release mode, thereby nourishing the sapling for a longer period. It helps avoid repeated use of fertilizer and economises the quantity of urea required by crops, resulting in better crop yield and efficient pest control management.


7. Horticulture: Horticulture is the science and art of growing (plants) -fruits, vegetables, flowers, and any other cultivar. It also includes plant conservation, landscape restoration, soil management, landscape and garden design, construction, and maintenance, and arboriculture. In contrast to agriculture, horticulture does not include large-scale crop production or animal husbandry.

9. Onam is an annual Hindu festival with origins in the state of Kerala in India. It falls in the Malayalam calendar month of Chingam, which in Gregorian calendar overlaps with August–September.

The festival commemorates the Vamana avatar of Vishnu, the subsequent homecoming of the legendary Emperor Mahabali and mythologies of Hinduism related to Kashyapa and Parashurama.

As per the estimates released by the central statistics office on August 31, India's economy, as measured by the gross domestic product (GDP), grew by 5.7 % in the first quarter of 2017-18 , compared with 7.9 % in the same quarter a year ago. This is slowest pace of GDP growth recorded since the NDA came to power in May 2014.

15. Handy Cancer Detector: A handheld pen-like device invented by the university of Texas researchers enables rapid diagnosis of cancerous tissues. A major challenge during surgery is determining the boundary between cancerous and normal tissue. The mass spectrometer attached to pen tip identifies cancerous tissue.

16. IGIB team discovers skin bacterium with antimicrobial activity.

Bacteria found on the skin are known to harbour a large repertoire of antimicrobial agents. A new bacterial strain of Staphylococcus capitis identified by scientists at Delhi's CSIR - Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB) has a strong anti bacterial activity against Gram - positive bacteria , including Staphylococcus aureus. 

17. Gender Transition: It is a mathematical concept and can be used to understand how an orderly arrangement of atoms, like in diamonds, changes into a disorderly mess in glass and amorphous materials.
