2. Chancellor Angela Market clinched a fourth term in Germany's election on Sunday.

Angela Dorothea Merkel (born 17 July 1954) is a German politician and the Chancellor of Germany since 2005. She has also been the leader of the centre-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) since 2000. Merkel has been widely described as the de facto leader of the European Union.

3. Amit Masurkar's Newton is the 50th submission by India to the Best Foreign Film category at the Academy Awards.

4. KKR to buy out Hitachi Koki in 6 months

KKR & Co. LP, a U.S. private equity firm, is set to acquire the remaining 10% public share of Japanese power tool maker Hitachi Koki Co. within six months and may inject fresh funds into the company.


5. Essar Invests Rs. 830 cr. in Vizag port facility

Essar Ports has invested Rs. 830 crore to upgrade and almost double the iron ore handling capacity of its Vizag Terminal ( outer harbour ) in Andhra Pradesh.

The capacity enhancement work from 12.5 million metric tonnes per annum ( MMTPA ) to 23 MMTPA is nearing completion and will be fully operational in November this year. 

6. What is the Graded Surveillance Measure?

SEBI introduced the measure to keep a tab on securities that witness an abnormal price rise that is not commensurate with financial health and fundamentals of the company such as earnings, book value, price to earning ratio among others.
